How much does a family photographer cost in Toronto? (2026)

Most established family photographers in Toronto charge $350 to $600 plus HST for a full session, and $150 to $300 for a mini session of 15 to 30 minutes. Studio packages that include prints can pass $1,000. My full sessions start at $500 plus HST, and my minis are 20 minutes with 10 to 15 edited images, depending on the shoot.

The price on a website is only half the comparison. What you get for it, and when, matters as much.

What drives the price of family photos?

Time. A full session runs an hour or more and can cover more than one spot, or your home. A mini is 20 minutes in one place, which is why it costs less.

Edited images. Ask how many you get, and who chooses them. A lower price with eight images can cost more per photo than a higher one with twenty.

Delivery. Ask whether the price includes digital files or only prints. If a package leans on prints and albums ordered after the session, ask what families usually spend in total.

Location fees. Some places charge their own entry fee. At my sunflower minis, for example, the farm charges an entrance fee at the gate, on top of the session.

Tax. Check whether a quote includes HST, which is 13% in Ontario. A $275 session is $310.75 once HST is added.

Mini sessions are priced per shoot. In 2026: summer minis at James Gardens were $175 with HST included, fall minis at James Gardens are $295 plus HST, and the Christmas minis at Preto Loft are $275 plus HST. Every mini is 20 minutes.

What is included in a family session?

Every session comes with edited images in a private online gallery, full resolution and yours to print anywhere. Summer and Christmas minis include 10 edited images; sunflower minis include at least 15, and at fall minis you choose 15 yourself, plus a few of Laura's favourites as a bonus.

For the studio Christmas minis, the full gallery arrives within 48 hours and you choose your 10 favourites from it, rather than receiving my pick. Edited selections follow within five business days.

Is a mini session or a full session better value?

A mini is the better buy when you want one strong set of photos for the season, the holiday card or the grandparents, and your kids are small. Twenty minutes is about how long most toddlers last anyway.

A full session earns its price when you want more than one setting, photos at home, a larger family group, or simply more variety in the gallery. See both on the family page.

What should you ask before you book?

How many edited images are included, and who picks them? When do they arrive? Is HST included in the price? Are prints required, or are digital files included? Is there a location or entry fee? Is the deposit refundable, and can you move your date?
